JOB DESCRIPTION:

New England Property Services Group, LLC (NEPSG) is a Residential Restoration Contracting Business that operates in CT, MA, and RI focused on Insurance Claim Projects. In taking on insurance claim projects, we take an Irrevocable Assignment of Insurance Claim Benefits & Rights from the policyholder and in turn, NEPSG steps into the shoes of the insured as the Claimant / Assignee. This allows NEPSG to discuss the claim beyond the level of a typical homeowner / contactor relationship, as this Assignment allows NPESG to discuss policy language, invoke the Appraisal option (for CT & RI Claims) and/or Reference Proceeding Option (for MA Claims) and of course, file suit and do so in the name of the company as the chose in action Assignee.

With our involvement in insurance claims, there are many claim files that require us to use the Appraisal and/or Reference Process (noted above) and as such, we are looking to speak to candidates that have backgrounds related to the types of damages we take on as part of the claims, which include but are not limited to residential roofing, vinyl siding replacements, interior water damage restoration, as well as attic remediation, which requires both removal and replacement insulation.

Having any type of Water or Mold Certifications as well as at a minimum having an active OSHA 10 Certification would be very beneficial. In addition, having been involved in roofing and vinyl siding with particular training to understand how the products are to be installed per building code or per manufacturers installation instructions is a must to have now or to obtain. You would also need to have proper transportation and in some cases, a ladder to access a roof or attic and/or to have access through other means to do so.

The compensation for this type of work will likely have 2 tiers / levels, one for acting as an Appraiser (For Rhode Island and Connecticut) or Referee for NEPSG (typically the higher tier / level), and the other for providing Estimating Services to NEPSG outside of the Scope of being engaged as an Appraiser and/or Referee.

In regard to being nominated as a candidate in a Reference Proceeding in Massachusetts, an individual must be a legal Massachusetts Resident and 18 years or older. In Rhode Island, there is no requirement to be a Rhode Island resident to be nominated as an Appraiser. The compensation for either an Appraiser or Referee would be based on an agreed upon hourly rate set in advance of being nominated and you would be required to provide documentation for any time spent on resolving a claim through the Appraisal or Reference Process and upon completion of the process, you would submit an invoice for your time (based on the hourly rate) and we will issue payment. As such, you would not be an employee, but a 1099 independent contractor for this work.

This opportunity is NOT an offer of Employment for any guaranteed or suggested amount of Hours Per Week. This is an opportunity for those seeking to have the possibility of contractual work, which would be based on our needs, which may be sporadic at times. The candidate would document the time spent and then submit an invoice at the end of the project for payment, which will be via a direct check with no deductions for any taxes as again, this is not an offer for employment and as such, the candidate will not be considered an employee. Pay: $15.00 - $40.00 per hour

Expected hours: 1 – 20 per week

  • Weekends as needed

Application Question(s):

  • Please provide your required Compensation Per Hour for Estimating and for being Nominated as an Appraiser and/or Referee (Must be a Massachusetts Resident for this).
  • Please confirm that you have your own Transportation and are able to visit properties located in Massachusetts and Rhode Island without restrictions on any distance in either State. If there are restrictions, please provide that information to us.
  • Please confirm if you have the ability to climb on a residential roof and if so, if you have the equipment to provide for your own access to inspect a roof if needed.
  • Please confirm if you have access to other tools / equipment that would be needed to complete a proper inspection and estimate of a residential property, including but not limited to a ladder or ladders to access a Roof, Attic, etc. as well as Measuring Tools for both dimensions (tape measure) as well as to confirm Moisture Content (Moisture Meter), etc. Please provide a list of the tools you have that would be utilized for this type of work.
  • If you presently do not have the tools noted above, will you invest in these tools prior to taking on any work that we may assign to you?
  • What is your first date of availability to take on an assignment if we mutually agree to move forward with any assignments?
  • Please list 2-3 dates and time ranges that you could do an In-Person Interview. It is best to meet in person to be able to discuss the opportunity as well as to allow us to hear more about the candidates background in detail, which is why we are looking to only interview and discuss this in person.
