Friday Forum: Paid Family Medical Leave
The MA Paid Family Medical Leave (PFML) went into effect in early October. This law especially effects employers with 25 or more employees, since they are required to pay the employer contribution. Michael Giardini from Baystate Benefit Services wants those employers to consider getting a Private Plan Exemption.
· There are now 13 major carriers offering Private Plans
· Employers who privatize save 15 months of pre-funding contributions
· Some carriers are guaranteeing rates will not exceed the state rate
· It is not too late to go with a Private Plan, even if employers have started taking withholdings
· There is no such thing as “bad risk”
There is still time to obtain a Private Plan Exemption, saving employers and their employee’s considerable money!
