Baptista was born to the parents of Gualdino and Eugenia Baptista on March 13\, 1951 and registered on March 17\, 1951 in a small and simple locality named Mato Grande in the Island of Brava\, Cape Verde\, a former Portuguese possession. In 1967\, Baptista\, one of the eleven children\, immigrated to the United State with his parents\, but had to stay back in Lisbon\, Portugal and later  in 1969\, he arrived in Pawtucket\, Rhode Island.\n\n\n\nBaptista studied at the Rhode Island College\, Brown University and University of Lisbon. He was employed by the Pawtucket School System\, Providence Adult Education Department\,  New England Bilingual Curriculum Department. Employed by the State of Rhode Island Labor Department as Employment Developer.\n\n \n\nIn 1978\, Baptista arrived in Fall River to work at Shelburne Shirt Company as its Personnel Director\, a job he held for 13 years.\n\n\n\nBaptista was a radio host for the WSAR\, a Knight  Quality Station at the time   and later in 1988 funded Radio Voz do Emigrante\, a Portuguese radio serving the Portugueses-speaking communities. He funded and co-host  a weekly  television program named Impacto\, which aired for twenty-two years on WJAR-TV 10\,  known today as NBC 10. For over six years\, Baptista was the columnist  of a weekly column known as A Nossa Voz in The Fall River Herald News.\n\n \n\nPresently\, Baptista is a member of the Board of Trustee of Bristol Community College\, member of the Board of Directors of Health First Family Care Center\, Board of Directors at Ser Jobs for Progress\; corporator at Bank Five\; member of   Massachusetts Broadcasting Association\; Casa dos Acores of New England\, Prince Henry Society of Fall River\, the Portuguese-American Leadership Council of the United States\, Azorean Cultural Society\; and One Southcoast Chamber\, where he served on the board of directors  for a total  of twelve years.\n\n \n\nHe was the past president of the Fall River Day of Portugal\, member of the Fall River Exchange Club  and Fall River Rotary Club Served on the board of the  Massachusetts Society for  the Prevention of Cruelty to Children. Past member of the Portuguese-American Federation\, the Cape Verdean American Federation\; the Prince Henry Club of Rhode Island\, Greater Fall River Personnel Club.\n\n \n\nBaptista has been distinguished by the Bristol Community College  as Distinguished Citizen for 2013\, The Prince Henry Society  2011 Portuguese-American of the Year and Portuguese-American Leadership Council of the United States 2014 Distinguished Citizen Award and by the Massachusetts -Portuguese Heritage Day of Portugal in 2012\, as well as the recipient of several awards from the States of Massachusetts and Rhode Island.\n\n \n\nBaptista resides in Somerset with Deolinda\, his wife of 46 years The two have three children\, Frank P. Baptista\, Jr. (wife Lizete Varela)\, Heather-Jean Baptista-Davidson (husband Nicholas) and Nancy-Lynn Baptista-Rodrigues (husband Antonio Rodrigues). They have seven grandchildren: Jacoby-Frank Davidson\, Julian-Nicholas Davidson\, Jayce-Jonathan Davidson\; Noah-Frank Rodrigues\, Nadia-Deolinda Rodrigues\; Christian-Frank Baptista and Siena Maya Baptista.\n\n \n\nHe enjoys travelling\, politics and most of all spending time with his family.\n\n \n\n\nWe will also be honoring our Ambassador of the Year\n\nEdward Pacheco\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEd Pacheco is the owner/manager of Places To Go\, LLC a medical and private livery transportation company serving the SouthCoast of Massachusetts for over a decade. During his time as an ambassador with One SouthCoast Chamber\, Ed has helped dozens of members join and looks forward to directing them to the resources available to them and helping to build their network. In the past year\, he has helped four new women owned business join the chamber.
