SUMMARY:GMSC! June 2016 Breakfast/Business of the Year Award
DESCRIPTION:This popular breakfast series is a high-profile\, fast-paced and educational program geared towards executives\, senior managers\, professionals and small business owners. Each of the programs has a business-oriented focus and features a popular speaker to present on a topic of interest to local businesses. The Good Morning SouthCoast! breakfast program is also a great way to network with other Chamber members!\n\n \n\n\n\n\nThe event will feature a presentation from Keynote Speaker\, Randy Helm\, interim Chancellor of UMass Dartmouth. \n\n\n Peyton Randolph (Randy) Helm\, former Muhlenberg College President\, was appointed interim chancellor of UMass Dartmouth beginning in March of this year. Helm retired last year after leading Muhlenberg College for 12 years and was named President Emeritus by the College's trustees at Commencement last May.\n\n\n\nBefore his Muhlenberg presidency\, Helm served as Vice President at the University of Pennsylvania. At Muhlenberg\, Helm presided over an era of growth and transformation\, during which applications and enrollment increased\, as the college continued to gain acclaim. Muhlenberg's endowment more than tripled -- rising from $70 million to $247 million with that growth fueled by a $110 million capital campaign Helm oversaw. Helm was also credited with improving campus facilities and student life and developing a new curriculum. Muhlenberg also became more diverse during Helm's presidency.\n\n\n\nHelm said he looked forward to serving at UMass Dartmouth.\n\n\n\n"This is an institution committed to transforming lives through the power of higher education\, a purpose to which I have dedicated my career. With half of the University's undergraduates being first-generation college-attendees\, almost 40 percent qualifying for Pell grants\, and many holding down jobs in addition to taking classes\, UMass Dartmouth students are clearly motivated\, determined\, pragmatic and focused on their future\," he said.\n\n\n\nWe will also present the\n\n Business of the Year Award\n\n\n\nTraditionally in June\, the Chamber has presented the Small Business of the Year Award.
