SUMMARY:Congressional Update with Jake Auchincloss and Bill Keating
DESCRIPTION:**Registration is now closed. We are unable to accommodate additional attendees.**\n\n \n\n\nCongressional Update\n\nwith Congressmen\n\nJake Auchincloss and Bill Keating\n\n \n\nStart your day with One SouthCoast Chamber at this exclusive Congressional Breakfast featuring Representatives Jake Auchincloss (MA-4) and William Keating (MA-9). Our region's congressional delegation will provide updates on federal initiatives impacting the SouthCoast and discuss their priorities for our communities.\n\n \n\n \n\nCongressman Jake Auchincloss is serving his second term representing the Massachusetts Fourth. In addition to his work on the committees for Transportation & Infrastructure and the Select Committee on Strategic Competition Between the United States and China\, his areas of focus include healthcare\, clean energy\, gun violence\, and building a strong middle class.\n\nJake was born and raised in Newton\, Massachusetts\, the son of a surgeon and a scientist. They showed him the value of curiosity and hard work. From the moment he could read\, Jake loved American history.\n\nAfter graduating from Harvard College\, Jake joined the Marines. He commanded infantry in Afghanistan and special operations in Panama.\n\nUpon returning home\, Jake continued his service as a three-term city councilor in Newton. While working at City Hall on nights and weekends\, Jake built a career in business\, running product development at both a Fortune 100 insurance company and a cybersecurity startup. He has degrees in Economics and Finance from Harvard University and MIT Sloan.\n\nToday\, Jake lives in Newton with his wife\, Michelle\, and their children\, Teddy\, Grace\, and Audrey (along with their Labrador Retriever\, Donut).\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCongressman William R. (Bill) Keating was elected to the United States House of Representatives on November 2\, 2010 - one of only nine new Democratic Members to be elected to the 112th Congress. He represents Massachusetts? 9th Congressional District\, which encompasses the state?s South Shore\, South Coast\, Cape Cod and the Islands of Martha?s Vineyard\, and Nantucket.\n\nIn Congress\, Bill has established himself as a hardworking civil servant and passionate advocate for the people of Massachusetts ? a reputation he had earned since his days in the State?s legislature. Bill?s legislative priorities reflect a keen understanding of the issues facing his constituents and a commitment to addressing them: working to create jobs by supporting our small businesses and increasing educational opportunities\; strengthening our middle class families\; improving our domestic security\; providing our senior population with the resources they need\; ensuring our veterans receive the benefits they deserve\; and protecting our unique ecosystems.\n\nCongressman Keating is a senior member of the House\, sitting on both the Foreign Affairs and Armed Services Committees. He currently serves as Chairman of the Europe\, Eurasia\, Energy and Environment subcommittee of the House Foreign Affairs Committee. He also sits on the Foreign Affairs subcommittee on the Middle East\, North Africa\, and International Terrorism as well as the Armed Services subcommittees for Strategic Forces and Intelligence and Emerging Threats and Capabilities. Through his work\, he has cemented his role as one of the lead national security and foreign policy experts in Congress. \n\n\n\nBill and his wife\, Tevis\, reside in Bourne and are the proud parents of two children\, Kristen and Patrick.
